Wildlife Conservation Internship at Borderless Frontier Africa

Program Overview:
Borderless Frontier Africa invites passionate individuals to participate in our immersive Wildlife Conservation internship program. This opportunity is designed to provide hands-on experience in wildlife conservation activities, offering a unique chance to work alongside professionals and contribute to meaningful initiatives. The internship includes visits to prominent zoos and national parks in Uganda, such as the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) and various wildlife centers. Our program is open year-round, with no specific deadlines, allowing participants to join upon arrival.

Program Fees:
The comprehensive program fee covers all essential expenses to ensure a comfortable and enriching experience for our interns. The detailed breakdown is as follows:

  • Accommodation: $115 per week
  • Feeding (Thrice a day): $153 per week
  • Transport for Activities: $115 per week
  • Supervision: $137 per week
  • Leisure on Weekends: $151 *OPTIONAL
  • Transport to and from Entebbe: $164 ONE TIME PAYMENT
  • Registration (One-time payment): $285

Trip Cost: Up to $1500 (This is an EXCLUSIVE cost for the internship)

Program Components:

  • Research Project: Interns will engage in a research project relevant to wildlife conservation, contributing to ongoing studies and initiatives aimed at preserving Uganda’s natural heritage.
  • Training and Workshops: Participate in specialized training sessions and workshops conducted by experts to develop professional skills in conservation practices, wildlife monitoring, and habitat management.
  • Community Outreach: Involve yourself in community outreach programs, delivering educational sessions on wildlife conservation, conducting workshops, and supporting local initiatives to raise awareness about environmental protection.
  • Visits to Zoos and National Parks: Experience the wildlife of Uganda first-hand through visits to renowned sites, including:
  • Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC): Learn about wildlife rehabilitation, conservation education, and the role of zoos in wildlife preservation.
  • Queen Elizabeth National Park: Explore diverse ecosystems and observe abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, and various bird species.
  • Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Discover the lush habitats of mountain gorillas and other wildlife in this UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Other Wildlife Centers: Visit various conservation centers and sanctuaries dedicated to protecting endangered species and promoting biodiversity.

Eligibility:

  • Open to students and graduates from fields related to environmental science, biology, conservation, and related disciplines.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • A demonstrated interest in wildlife conservation and community service.
  • Ability to work in diverse and challenging environments.
