    Overview of Mount Elgon National Park
  Location and Size
–   Geographical Position  : Mount Elgon National Park is situated on the border between Uganda and Kenya. The park covers the slopes of Mount Elgon, an extinct shield volcano.
–   Area  : The park spans approximately 1,279 square kilometers, with the Ugandan side covering 1,110 square kilometers and the Kenyan side covering the remaining area.

–   Height  : Mount Elgon is the fourth highest mountain in East Africa, with its highest peak, Wagagai, standing at 4,321 meters.
–   Formation  : The mountain is one of the oldest volcanic mountains in East Africa, with its formation dating back to at least 24 million years ago.
  Ecosystems and Biodiversity
–   Flora  : The park features diverse vegetation zones including montane forest, bamboo, heath, and moorland. Unique plant species like giant lobelias and groundsel can be found in the higher altitudes.
–   Fauna  : Home to various animal species including elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and primates. It also hosts over 300 bird species, making it a prime destination for birdwatchers.
    Activities in Mount Elgon National Park
  1. Trekking and Hiking
–   Sasa Trail  : The most popular route to the summit. It offers the shortest but steepest path, starting from Budadiri.
–   Sipi Trail  : Begins near the Sipi Falls and is less steep but longer, offering scenic views of the falls and surrounding landscape.
–   Piswa Trail  : Starts from Kapkwata and is known for its gentler slopes, passing through beautiful moorlands and bamboo forests.
  2. Bird Watching
–   Bird Species  : Notable birds include the Jackson’s francolin, eastern bronze-naped pigeon, Hartlaub’s turaco, and Tacazze sunbird.
–   Best Spots  : Bird watching can be enjoyed throughout the park, particularly in the montane forests and around the Chebonet and Kapkwai Forest Exploration Centres.
  3. Cave Exploration
–   Caves  : Several caves such as the Kitum, Makingeny, Chepnyalil, and Ngwarisha are located within the park. These caves have historic significance and contain salt deposits that attract elephants and other wildlife.
–   Kitum Cave  : One of the most famous caves where elephants come to mine salt by scraping the walls with their tusks.

On arrival from your country you will be picked up an Entebbe International Airport by our welcoming guests who will warmly receive you, they will then carry your luggage and place you into our service vehicle and we shall drive you through Kampala or Entebbe where you will a have dinner then we shall proceed to the host Family. From here we is where you will be staying before and after your different journeys.

When you are at the Host Family, we shall be able to feed you really well with a variety of local dishes from our Country such as Luwombo, Matooke, Millet (Kaalo) and be able to engage in different cultures the Home is large enough with full time internet access (WI-FI) and so many more.

MORNING
Explore Local Area

Visit the Sipi Falls, a series of three stunning waterfalls located near Kapchorwa.
Enjoy a guided coffee tour to learn about the local Bugisu Arabica coffee production.
Evening: Preparation for Trek

Meet your trekking guide for a briefing about the trek, gear check, and safety instructions.
Early dinner and rest for an early start the next day.

Morning: Begin Trek

Drive to Budadiri, the starting point for the Sasa Trail.
Register at the park headquarters and begin your trek through the montane forest.
Afternoon: Hike to Sasa River Camp

Trek through the bamboo zone and lush vegetation, enjoying views of the slopes and valleys.
Arrive at Sasa River Camp, set up camp, and rest.
Evening: Camp Activities

Dinner at the camp, storytelling, and stargazing.
