Lake Bunyonyi, located in southwestern Uganda near the border with Rwanda, is often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its stunning natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. On arrival from your country you will be picked up an Entebbe International Airport by our welcoming guests who will warmly receive you, they will then carry your luggage and place you into our service vehicle and we shall drive you through Kampala or Entebbe where you will a have dinner then we shall proceed to the host Family. From here we is where you will be staying before and after your different journeys.

When you are at the Host Family, we shall be able to feed you really well with a variety of local dishes from our Country such as Luwombo, Matooke, Millet (Kaalo) and be able to engage in different cultures the Home is large enough with full time internet access (WI-FI) and so many more.

 

Itinerary

Days Lake Bunyonyi Safari in Uganda starts after you have travelled out of your Host's family's house very early in the morning as we drive to Kabale District in south Western Uganda the journey will be around 7 Hours.The drive takes you through the grasslands of Ankole, whose common sight are famous for habituating long horned cattle, then proceed to highlands of Kigezi with their beautifully terraced hills, continue with the journey through beautiful scenery where we shall reach in the evening and let you have an evening rest at Lake Bunyonyi Lodge at this selection.

You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the gorillas once sited and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The drive will be through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free. Dinner and overnight will be at Bunyonyi Safari Resort.

Morning: Island Hopping
After breakfast, embark on a boat tour to explore some of Lake Bunyonyi's 29 islands. Visit popular islands like Bwama and Bushara, where you can learn about the local culture and history.
Take a guided hike on one of the islands to enjoy panoramic views of the lake and its surroundings.
Afternoon: Community Visit
Return to the mainland for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit a nearby community to experience authentic Ugandan culture. You can participate in traditional activities, interact with locals, and learn about their way of life.
Evening: Cultural Dinner
Enjoy a traditional Ugandan dinner featuring local delicacies and entertainment such as music and dance. This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and connect with the community.
The following day we shall return you to either your hotel or Host family and you decide on what next

Our guides could take a leisurely walk around the area or simply relax by the lake, soaking in the tranquility.
Sunset Cruise
Enjoy a sunset cruise on Lake Bunyonyi. Many accommodations offer boat trips that take you around the lake, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and islands.

The following day we shall let you prepare and travel pack to Kampala or prefered destination and that marks the end of your 3 day Travel to Lake Bunyonyi
